Another European airline has entered the Georgian aviation market. Greek SKY Express will operate direct regular flights from Athens to Tbilisi three times a week using Airbus A321 neo aircraft.
A reception was held at the departure hall of Tbilisi International Airport in connection with the entry of the new airline, which was attended by Irakli Karkashadze, Director General of the Association of Georgian Airports, Tea Zakharadze, General Manager of TAV Georgia, Ioannis Grilos, owner of Sky Express, representatives of the Civil Aviation Agency and other officials.
"Another European airline has joined the Georgian aviation market. Sky Express will operate flights on the Athens-Tbilisi-Athens route three times a week. Negotiations with the airline were conducted jointly, and it is important that we were able to introduce a new airline to the Georgian aviation market with joint efforts, which will significantly contribute to air traffic between the two countries and further increase our forecasts regarding passenger traffic. I would like to wish the airline success, many passengers, and safe flights," said Irakli Karkashadze.
Sky Express is the third airline to operate direct regular flights between Georgia and Greece, after Aegean Airlines and Wizz Air. In January-October 2024, a total of 186,782 passengers used Tbilisi and Kutaisi international airports to Greece and vice versa.
