A husband and wife were killed in an accident in Kvareli Municipality. The incident occurred in the evening hours of April 22 in the village of Sabue. Marika and Bitsia Ambrosishvili were sitting at the gate of their house and talking to their neighbors when the couple was suddenly hit by a car. Unfortunately, both of them suffered non-life-threatening injuries and both died. The man died on the spot, while the injured Marika was taken to the clinic, but she also died on the way.
According to one version, the cause of the car accident was excessive speed. An investigation into the incident has already been launched and law enforcement officers will determine the cause of the tragedy.
"Our fellow villagers Marika and Bithiia Ambrosishvili are deceased. Yesterday evening, a tragedy occurred in our village, very good people died in front of their own gate. It was a real accident. Marika was 66 years old, her husband is a year older, and the culprit is a 26-year-old local boy who has already been arrested."
Eyewitnesses were there and they witnessed this difficult story. It's a straight road, not a downhill one, and we don't know how it all happened.
"They had an amazing marriage, they were always together and left this country together," a local told Kviri Palitra.
The relatives are very upset by what happened:
"They had a very good marriage, their family was created with love and they lived happily. They raised 4 children, they have grandchildren. They worked hard all the time, and no matter who you ask, everyone will say good things about Marika and the boy."
They had a seating area set up in front of the house, and neighbors would come over, sit there, and talk. There is a straight road in front of their house, no curves. We don't know why this happened.
The guy who crashed is a local, a decent guy, has been working hard since childhood and has been behind the wheel for years. The police will determine what happened. Last night was such a crazy day that there was no time to sort out these details.
As far as I know, Nika turned himself in to the police. Neighbors and passersby witnessed the incident and saw what kind of disaster it was. It was around 7 o'clock... Bachia died on the spot and Marika died before being taken to the hospital.
"Two other neighbors were sitting on the same bench. A moment earlier, they told me that I was sitting a little too narrowly and moved me to another bench. They were not destined to die," said the neighbor of the deceased.
